What has come to my attention is that I seem to WANT to write a certain kind of story, the sort I often like to read, but that I end up writing a different type of story when I sit down.
The first has a poetic, almost mythical feel to it, full of trenchant observations about the human condition.
The second has a lot of sarcastic banter and leans toward the humorous.
When I go back to look at what I've written, it never feels quite right. I don't know why I have this disconnect.
Reviews links to book reviews on a fairly eclectic range of new and old books. Writing links posts about the writing process itself. Kids links to little musings on experiences with my children. You can check some of my actual fiction and poetry (along with some more personal essays) at my other blog, Sand Dreaming of Stars.

I forgive you.

Man, last week has been awful for me and writing. Very tired from the kid-tote-slog.
